I will explain recent ideas of Donaldson for building numerical approximations to constant scalar curvature Kähler metrics on projective manifolds. I will focus on building balanced and Ricci flat metrics on K3 surfaces and will explain the Donaldson discretization prescription and the relevant numerical linear algebra problems.
