This talk (which also provides background and context for Monday's algebra seminar talk) concerns the arithmetic lifting problem of Sybilla Beckmann and Elena Black. The problem asks whether every Galois extension of Q is the specialization of some regular Galois extension of Q(x). The problem has sometimes been viewed as an "inverse inverse Galois problem."
