Generating families and the Chekanov-Eliashberg differential graded algebra (CE-DGA) are both sources for Legendrian knot invariants. Although the geometric origins of these two objects are very different, connections have been identified between the Legendrian invariants derived from them. In this talk, we will try to provide a clearer picture of the relationship between generating families and the CE-DGA.
