Convex minorants of random walks are important objects in several physical problems. For motivation, I will briefly describe one such problem. I will then describe several probability distributions related to convex minorant processes: The distribution of the longest segment of the convex minorant generated by random walks and Brownian motion; the distribution of the number of segments in the convex minorant of random walks. The talk will be self-contained.
