Univ. of Pennsylvania

Location

University of Pennsylvania

DRL 4N30

Note day and time change. Second of two talks.

Continuation of previous talk. Abstract of the two talks: One of the key steps in the usual strategy towards anabelian-type results is the so-called “local theory” where one must detect valuations (specifically, the ones which come from geometry) using given Galois-theoretic data. In this talk, I will describe how one can detect valuations using small pro-ell galois groups. Specifically, I will talk about the Z/ell abelian-by-central analogue of Bogomolov and Tschinkel’s theory of commuting-liftable pairs.
