The problem of controlling a single ray bundle has applications to the design of both image formation systems and for illumination systems. Despite being fundamental to both these of these areas, the problem is still not fully understood. I will show how it is naturally framed in terms of notion of a tangent distribution and give several applications, including a driver-side mirror that has no blind-spot or distortion.
