Abstract: In this talk, we will explain the structure of elliptic curves over the rational numbers, including the group law and torsion points. We will show how a natural group of automorphisms of the algebraic numbers acts on such an elliptic curve and its torsion points. We will then discuss some questions related to these group actions.
