After a brief introduction to the study of multivariate generating functions, we will look at two particular cases: the edge probability generating function for domino tilings of Aztec diamonds, and the generating function for rotation matrices from quantum physics. In both cases, as size of the structure tends to infinity, regions of "non-exponential decay" arise, which can be explained by examining the asymptotics of their respective generating functions.
