In the late 1980's Floer introduced his homology groups. These groups give rigorous meaning to the middle dimensional homology of certain infinite dimensional manifolds. Recently there have been a number of breakthroughs in using Floer homology to study three manifolds. Some of the highlights will be discussed in the talk.
