After some reminiscences about how things were in the good old days ;-), I will recall how Dennis' work and mine have intersected rather transversally. Then I'll recall and update my work with Mike Schlessinger on deformations of rational homotopy types. I'll conclude with a more recent stringy example of our intersection.
