We will explain how to use CM-theory for complex K3 surfaces to construct K3 surfaces over finite fields, and how this can be used to describe the category of ordinary K3 surfaces over a finite field. This description is similar in spirit to Deligne´s description of ordinary abelian varieties over finite fields in terms of certain linear algebra data over the integers.
