A permutation pattern is an order-isomorphism class of subsequence. A permutation tableau is a binary filling of a Young diagram that satisfies certain additional properties. We discuss permutation patterns and their various generalizations, as well as some variations on permutation tableaux. Finally, we consider statistics on permutation tableaux related to pattern occurrence and other permutation statistics.
