Regularity and synchrony in stochastic systems It has been observed in many contexts that coupling stochastic systems can make their dynamics more reliable, and that networks of stochastic elements can become synchronous. This talk will analyze a few model problems and characterize mechanisms which produce reliable and synchronous behavior. Finally, we will describe applications of these mechanisms to neuron firing, excitable reaction-diffusion equations, and motor protein dynamics.
