From 10:30 - 11:45, Louis Esser, Mark Macerato and Saad Slaoui will continue their presentation of the geometry and topology of the space of 3 x 3 matrices, and then highlight the features that they expect to be present in the general case of matrices of all sizes and shapes, with either real or complex coefficients. From 11:45 to 1 PM: Joe Hoisington will continue his presentation of the work of Chern and Lashof on total curvature of submanifolds of Euclidean space.
