We will discuss Tao´s paper "Expanding polynomials over finite fields of large characteristic, and a regularity lemma for definable sets" (http://arxiv.org/abs/1211.2894). In it, he obtains results about the combinatorics of finite fields that are stronger than usually possible using the Lang-Weil bounds and the etale fundamental group.
