I will discuss the special case of orbifolds in dimension 2, along with examples illustrating the specific behavior that can arise in this setting. Also, I will talk about orbifold fundamental group and orbifold coverings, and (briefly) how they relate to the question of existence of nice geometric structures on orbifolds.
