We will discuss an evolution equation that is a natural generalization of the heat equation. We will present evidence that solutions of our evolution equation can be used to approximate principle eigenvalues and eigenfunctions of the p- Laplacian. After sending p to infinity, we shall also deduce an approach to studying ground states of the infinity Laplacian.
