This is the second in a series of talks.

The famous Willmore conjecture proposed that the integral of the mean curvature squared of a torus immersed in Euclidean 3-space is at least 2\pi^2. We will present the recent proof of this conjecture due to F. Marques and A. Neves. All necessary background material will be given.
