Abstract: Evolutionary biology concerns the study of various biological processes -- such as mutation, recombination, natural selection, and demography -- that give rise to the diversity of life. For close to a century, evolutionary biology has served as an arena for fruitful interplay between the biological and mathematical sciences. In this talk, I will draw specific examples from my own research to illustrate this exciting interaction and highlight some challenges ahead.
