The evolution of a population structured by a quantitative trait is considered. The interactions between individuals occur by way of competition for resources whose concentrations depend on the current state of the population. I will first present a few models, both deterministic and probabilistic, which are commonly used. I will then essentially focus on the limit of strong selection and small mutations.
