We take a new look at the concept of center of gravity, and offer some new results about existence, stability, and uniqueness. We have both results in the plane and asymptotic results in higher dimensions as the dimension tends to infinity.

Steven G. Krantz was born in San Francisco, California in 1951. He received the Bachelors Degree from the University of California at Santa Cruz in 1971 and the Ph.D. from Princeton University in 1974.

Krantz has taught at UCLA, Princeton, Penn State, and Washington University in St. Louis. He has served as Chair of the latter department.

Krantz has won the Chauvenet Prize, the Beckenbach Book Award, and the UCLA Alumni Foundation Distinguished Teaching Award. He has directed 18 Ph.D. students and 9 Masters students. He has written 165 scholarly articles and 65 books.
