In this lecture I shall give Deligne´s beautiful proof (left over from last time) that the eigenvalues of Frobenius are algebraic integers. As an application, I shall present Esnault´s equally beautiful theorem according to which rationally connected varieties over a finite field have a point. If time permits, I´ll also make some general remarks on the structure of Deligne´s proof of the Weil conjecture.
