Galois Seminar

Adam Topaz

University of Pennsylvania

Location

University of Pennsylvania

DRL 4N30

Note time and room. First of two talks.

I will present the work done by Chebolu, Efrat and Minac in their preprint entitled "Quotients of Absolute Galois Groups which Determine the Entire Galois Cohomology". I will show how the authors' results in Galois cohomology can be used to produce explicit examples of pro-p-groups which cannot be realized as maximal pro-p quotients of absolute Galois groups. . This is the first of two talks. This first talk will be more introductory and will provide background, including definitions of Milnor K-groups for fields and of the Galois symbol, and the statement of the Bloch-Kato conjecture.
