A purpose of this talk is to establish a basic bound for the radius of a tight ball in a contact, not necessarily closed, 3-manifold: (M,\xi). The bound is calculated with respect to the Riemannian metric associated to a contact form and an almost complex structure on the contact subbundle \xi.
