ABSTRACT: I'll introduce the audience to the field of Riemannian geometry. I'll finish with one of my favorite results: Cheeger's finiteness theorem. Intuitively, it says there are only finitely many shapes you can build, given constraints on the size of the shape, the amount of building material, and the degree to which the material will stretch.
