The problem of deformation quantization in the unimodular case appeared in the theory of branes (work of Matsuo,Pioline,Awata,Schomerus). Unlike the symplectic case, the Lie algebra of unimodular (i.e. divergence free) vector fields is rigid in dimensions > or = 3. We shall present here some techniques to overcome that difficulty.
