The homotopy theory of coalgebras over certain operads is explored. An essential part of this is the construction of cofree coalgebras over operads. These are explicitely constructed over free operads and this construction is extended to arbitrary operads via a coalgebra-resolution that is dual to the Markl resolution of the underlying operad.
