For the special linear groups, the GGS formula constructs (in simple closed form) a solution to the quantum Yang-Baxter equation starting with any of the Belavin-Drinfeld solutions to the modified classical Yang-Baxter equation. A central idea is the construction of the "quantum interchange". This is more complex for the remaining classical groups; joint work with A. Giaquinto has yielded some progress.
