The talk will present K. Kedlaya's result on the algebraic closure of the field k((x)) of Laurent series over an algebraically closed field k of characteristic p>0. In characteristic 0, the algebraic closure of k((x)) is just the field of Puiseux series; but the situation in characteristic p is much more involved.
