We begin with basic definitions of the classical rook numbers and hit numbers, and prove an identity relating the two. We then move on to the q-rook numbers, proving some identities for them. Finally, we define the q-hit numbers and sketch the proof that they are symmetric, unimodal polynomials with coefficients in the natural numbers.
