This is the first of two talks on Mochizuki's paper "The local pro-p anabelian geometry of curves", in which he proves Grothendieck's Anabelian Conjecture for hyperbolic curves over p-adic fields. His main tool is p-adic Hodge theory. In the first talk, I plan to give an overview of the proof, including a brief introduction to p-adic Hodge theory.
